GW, Thanks for your suggestions about promoting a good night's rest. You are not alone in your night owl behavior and your late night creativity. I spend the most hours in my home studio after midnight. And like you, I have completely disregulated my sleeping (although I had fun). I agree that it can undermine your health . I'm currently semi-hooked on Ambien and trying to wean. The thing that helps me most is to focus on a part of a song I'm working on, or maybe some lyrics, when I'm trying to drift off. I don't generate anything worthwhile in that state, but it helps me block out other thoughts......kind of like meditating.

That's a good suggestion! Because of getting songs stuck in my head, I have usually avoided thinking of lyrics. Perhaps I'll give it another shot! Thank you! One trick that I learned that was great for blocking thoughts, while trying to go to sleep, is looking up, from underneath your eyelids. You don't have to move your whole head, just your eyes, like you're looking up at a chalkboard, at school. When this is going on, it's hard to think of anything. Oh, Brainwave Generator for the Mac does an amazing job. I can listen to it while working on music, and get relaxed at the same time.
