I wish you had taken one of those two spots and considered AUM, in my mind the best music app of 2016. Not just a new synth, drum machine, or effect, it was a category altogether of its own. For me it was something that I didn't know I needed, but now use almost every day. It is beautiful to look at, simple to learn, extremely powerful, and rock solid from the day it was released. AUM, along with Blocs Wave and Model 15, moved iOS music forward the most in 2016.
Also, I would argue that the 2016 advances in Korg Gadget rivaled the excellent ones in Cubasis 2. It's a much more powerful app in 2015 than it was in 2015.
