Portishead Release Music Video For SOS With Quote From Jo Cox

We don't normally get involved in politics here at AskAudio. And today being the UK's EU Referendum we'd probably shy away moreso if Portishead hadn't just released this.

Their most recent song in some 6 or 7 years, a cover of ABBA’s SOS had the internet buzzing for all the right reasons a few months back. It is a gloriously atmospheric and emotive version with some Moog synths making an appearance we think…

The song was featured in the film adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s novel High-Rise. But, the really beautiful thing they’ve done is end the video with a quote from the recently murdered British MP, Jo Cox:

“We have far more in common than which divides us.”

But, as musicians and producers that collaborate with others worldwide, it’s not unusual to discover that many of us find we have more in common that we have differences.

The killing of Jo Cox has been a defining moment in the UK this year. She was an advocate of working together to build a world that collaborates. To find out more about Jo Cox use Google. Or you can start here
