"We are facing a huge worldwide emergency, it’s not an easy moment but we need to be united, stay positive and be proactive“, says Giorgia Angiuli about the current worldwide situation.
Giorgia Angiuli was born and raised in Italy and currently lives in Florence. Italy was one of the first countries hit by the virus, something which we all have to face at the moment and which now keeps populations all over the world locked down. As most of the borders are closed, it is more important than ever to stay connected to our loved ones and to keep our hearts open. Therefore she has come up with a very unique idea.
On the 24th of March 2020, the Italian live performer and multi-instrumentalist Giorgia Angiuli launched a new open source audio project with the aim of supporting the research against the spreading of the virus.
Via social networks, she has invited all the producers, sitting alone - in distance - in their studios to create something special together with her. In a statement Giorgia Angiuli explains: „Just because we have to keep distance, and can’t meet each other, doesn´t have to mean that we can't work together on a new project. I’ll start recording some sounds and share my Ableton project with you. I call you all to add the other elements. It’s an ambitious project and I am positive we’ll make it together!“. The goal is to unite ALL TOGETHER to compose a track which shall first of all help us to carry on through these times with music, and also to help support the WHO and UN Fund Charity to fight SARS 2 - CoV. Everyone can participate and the final parts will be selected in a fair process by the artist herself.
The project is in partnership with Label Worx who will support the distribution, and also with Beatport who are behind the idea. The artist is very content with these partners: „it's great to see the support of the distributor, of a label, everyone is working together in this insecure time and cares about each other. It means a lot being able to unite also these platforms and have the team completed to make my idea alive.“
UNITED will be a track by Giorgia Angiuli and all the producers who make it into the final selection and arrangement. All the participants will also create a videoclip UNITED that will take shape as a puzzle and is already expected to go viral. The money raised by selling the track will be donated to the COVID-19 Fund for the World Health Organization. The solidarity fund supports WHO and partners in a massive effort to help countries prevent, detect, and manage the novel coronavirus – particularly those where the needs are the greatest.
