This App Turns Your MacBook Pro 2016 Into A Polyphonic Piano

Here is the first music instrument app we've come across designed primarily for the Touch Bar on the Apple MacBook Pro 2016 edition. And it's a rather nifty free polyphonic piano.

Some were thrilled, others disgusted, as well as a wide range of emotional responses in between, when Apple announced the Touch Bar on the new Apple MacBook Pro earlier this year. Well, rather than focus on the hate, we did a little imagining how the Touch Bar could be useful for musicians and producers. And with the help of very rudimentary Photoshop skills, yours truly came up with these five unique possibilities.

Now the new MacBook Pro has been out in the wild for a while, it was only a matter of time before someone turned the Touch Bar into a musical instrument interface. And we're starting with the most obvious one, a mini piano.

Thanks to Graham (we don't yet know his surname) Touch Bar Piano works with the 2016 MacBook Pro and turns the Touch Bar into a piano.

"Touch Bar Piano is a piano built into the Touch Bar of your 2016 MacBook Pro. The piano is fully polyphonic and has a choice of 128 different instruments. This app requires a 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. It does nothing useful on other Macs."

It would be interesting to see GarageBand, Logic or another DAW implemented this. Though due to the size and location of the Touch Bar we have to question its utility, but hats off to Graham for implementing a creative and musical idea.
