Superbooth17, Berlin Music Machine Event Shaping Up, Final Ticket Pre-Order

April 20th is almost here. Superbooth17 is almost here. Workshops are shaping up nicely. And there's still a few pre-order tickets available. What could be better for synth heads!?

For all of us here at AskAudio, Superbooth16 was undoubtedly THE event for synth enthusiasts. It took over the calendar. It make Musikmesse feel like an old concept with equally ageing ideas. Suerpbooth16 in Berlin may not have been as seminal as a Woodstock moment, but it brought the community of synth lovers and makers together and gave even the smallest eurorack manufacturer a voice, a space, and a place within the tribe.

If you compare that to other big trade shows where smaller synth and modular booths are often cramped together out of the way and slightly isolated, Superbooth just got it right. After all everybody needs space to breathe, and it's more important to have fewer really interested people discover new modules and companies than hundreds or thousands that simply walk straight past.

Well, Superbooth17 may eclipse the event last year in terms of exhibitors. There's over 160 here this year - and some of the larger corporate companies are getting involved as they see the benefit of being involved in an intimate, friendly show. Of course, the danger is that Superbooth wil become so popular one day the friendly vibe might inevitably give way to another corporate trade show experience. But, we're still a few years off that possibility. In the meantime, if you're anywhere near Berlin, we'd highly recommend you head over to Superbooth17 this April.

Remember, Superbooth is not just tables with synths from different companies that you can try and get familiar with. There are workshops aplenty, musical performances, and special events called "Gesprächskonzerte" which are part spoken word and part performance. If you really can't make it... be sure to stay tuned to AskAudio for videos from the show.

Here's some details from our friends at Superbooth:

The second annual edition of SUPERBOOTH will be held from April 20th to April 22nd 2017, at a new location, FEZ-Berlin.

The timetable for SUPERBOOTH17 is getting tight! And with now more than 160 exhibitors from 22 countries there will be even more to discover at this year’s edition. You can already start to plan your trip through FEZ Berlin on our online floor plan and find your favorite exhibitors. Next to the long- known companies like Yamaha, Korg and Roland we set the focus on small and ambitious companies like Mutable Instruments and Oscillosaurus, who will join Superbooth for the first time.

Next to a whole lot of presentations, performances and concerts we were able to get Gudrun Gut to play some live shows with her project Monika Werkstatt. Within this series there will be daily improvised concerts during the evenings, played on lent instruments from our exhibitors. In general, the program will be more diverse at SUPERBOOTH17 with us trying to contribute to the idea of getting more women into the genre of electronic music and the development of electronic instruments. Therefore we are preparing daily workshops held by women for women.

We will have additional workshops in Konzertsaal 2, which are open to everyone and give you the opportunity to build your own synthesizer module or even whole musical instruments. These workshops will be professionally hosted from 11 a.m. and will be held by exhibiting companies like Moog, 4MS and Leaf Audio. You can buy tickets for the workshops on superbooth.com and you don’t need an additional Trade Fair ticket. Although we absolutely recommend attending at another day to enjoy everything else SUPERBOOTH17 has to offer and we also recommend staying for the evening program and enjoy the special concerts and talks we are planning.

To make sure that there will still be people around in twenty or fifty years from now, knowing what analog electrical musical instruments are and how they are engineered, we set up workshops for school classes to learn something about electronics and how to use synthesizers. The results of these workshops will be presented by the children on one of our stages at 12.20 p.m. every day.

As you can see, there will be a lot to learn and discover next to all the new and exciting instruments and electronics that our exhibitors are presenting. For further details and updates about the program or to buy tickets please visit our website: superbooth.com

Due to the dimensions of the building and safety reasons there is only a limited quantity of 1-Day- Tickets. We recommend ordering these tickets as soon as possible.
