Dear friends of ROLI,
This week has been tremendously exciting for ROLI as we previewed the Seaboard RISE, an accessible musical instrument that extends the revolutionary, award-winning technologies of the Seaboard GRAND to a wide audience of music-makers. Thank you for all that you are doing to help us spread the word about our new product.
Our preview party was a lot of fun. We had a big group of friends, supporters and artists come to our HQ in Dalston to see the RISE for the first time, followed by an exclusive performance from acclaimed electronic musician Emika on the RISE. Roland Lamb, Seaboard inventor and ROLI's founder and CEO, was about to speak at 8:30 when the power went out just where we had set up the live stream! But a few moments later we had everything up and running again, and Roland introduced the Seaboard RISE and gave a short presentation about it in the context of efforts over the past century to create a truly expressive musical instrument. See a few clips from the talk here:
This was followed by a great performance by Marco Parisi, Heen-wah Wai, and Gerald Peter who performed a mashup of jazz, orchestral, dubstep, and electronic dance music, showing the expressive versatility of the Seaboard RISE. Check it out here:
In the past two days, the Seaboard RISE has already been hailed as "a keyboard controller that does to piano keys what 3D Touch does to the iPhone" (SlashGear). Sound on Sound compared it to the Seaboard GRAND, noting it is "every bit as slimline and attractive as its bigger brother," while WIRED UK commented that it "could help musicians and amateurs alike create soaring melodies, shredding synths, and whimsical tunes with the touch of a finger."
The Seaboard RISE is now available to preorder on www.roli.com. We are excited to be working with the world's leading music retailers, who will carry the Seaboard RISE in their stores from October. You can also preorder the Seaboard RISE now from some of your favorite stores including Sweetwater, MoMA Stores, B&H, Washington Music and Alto Music in the US and PMT Online, Gear4Music, and GuitarGuitar in the UK. Stay tuned, as we will be announcing many more locations in the coming weeks.
We've received lots of questions from around the world about the RISE - check out our RISE FAQ page to learn more, and keep asking us questions about anything and everything Seaboard RISE-related.
The next few weeks promise to be even more momentous than this week, as we approach our global retail rollout in October. And come be one of the first in the world to try out the Seaboard RISE at this weekend's BPM show in Birmingham, UK - we'd love to see you there. Once again thank you for all your are doing to help build the momentum!
