On 808 Day (yesterday) Roland announced two new ACB synths. There's an 808 for the Boutique range: TR-08, and a Boutique recreation of the SH-101: SH-01A.
In case you didn't know, or missed our news stories yesterday, the SH-01A differs from its predecessor thanks to having extra modes beyond "monophonic" mode. The other three are: polyphonic (up to four notes), unison, and chord.
Despite some mouth-watering video promos from Roland for the TR-08 and SH-01A we don't recall seeing one where chord mode was the focus. Also, promos are promos... real-world demos and performances are just that.
Today Nick de Friez released two short videos using the TR-08 and SH-01A. The first showcases "the TR-08 triggering the SH-01a in chord mode with just a little reverb added to the SH-01a".
In the second video, Nick gets the TR-08, SH-01a, SP-1200 and JP-3X making beautiful sounds together:
Follow the links below to find out more about the $349 TR-08 and $349 SH-01A. Exciting stuff.
