Some sounds never seem to go out of fashion. The classic 808 and 909 kits are great examples, and rather than sampling these sounds, Wave Alchemy have synthesized them as Noah Pred discovers.

Nice review Noah, well written and I'm glad you liked it.

I'm one of the co-producers of this library and just thought I'd leave a comment for any readers about the one criticism you voiced regarding the lack of a specific ableton drum kit.

We did have one built and ready to go but to be an official 'certified by ableton' kit we have to jump through a few more hoops than for the other kits. I'm the guy who synthesised most of the sounds in this library, not the guy who made the kits, so this information is second hand, but I believe the main stumbling block was that ableton insist on 'loops' being included in any official kit. Because Synth Drums is all one hits, there are no loops. So this fact has held up the release of the ableton kits. However we do intend to address this and release an ableton kit in the future including loops.

To any ableton user wondering if you can use our Library in ableton: Yes you can, it's a set of samples - you don't need a pre-made 'drum kit' to use this library. you can drag and drop them into your project as audio, or load them into any soft sampler or soft drum machine you wish and of course use ableton's stock software to create your own custom kits with our drums.
