The new iLoud Micro monitors are tiny, but IK Multimedia explain they sound bigger than they look, and are aiming for the music/producer market. Hollin Jones measures them up for size in our review.

These seem almost too good to be true...I live overseas and am about to hit the road as a digital nomad producer of sorts. The thought of selling off my Yamaha HSM-50s and subwoofer has been giving me nightmares, but these seem to be the solution I'm looking for on the road. My only concern is the lack of TRS inputs. How would you suggest setting these up for use with my apollo twin interface? If I use RCA to 1/4" adapters, won't I risk introducing hum/hiss into the signal when mixing? Going this route and using a hum destroyer will only add weight and extra cables into my portable studio, where every ounce and square inch takes its toll. Nice review btw!

The best advice I can give you is to find a music store that has a pair set up and just try them out. I know that sounds like a cop out but speakers obviously can't be judged until you're standing in front of them. Maybe also ask if you can plug your interface in and see if there's any noise : I can't imagine why they wouldn't let you do that!

Unlikely scenario in Korea. I'm probably gonna cop these either way, but I remember from past experience plugging in drum machines and hardware effects with RCA to 1/4" adapted cables had balance and noise issues. What's the point of monitoring if there the signal isn't clean to begin with. Decisions, decisions..

Hey Hollin, thanks for the review. I notice you've reviewed a lot of studio monitors. How do these compare to other compact monitors - such as the Genelec 8010A? Like tripdeuce, I'm looking for something to use when traveling (along with a SubPac to measure sub bass).

Thanks for the review!
I would like to know how do you compare those to the original iLoud speaker ?
Thanks
