Reason Users Beware of MacOS High Sierra 10.13.4 Update

At the time of writing the latest update (10.13.4) for macOS is having a negative impact on Propellerhead Software's DAW, Reason. Probably best to avoid this update until there's a patch from Props.

It's not always smooth sailing in the world of OS updates and continued performance and compatability with your DAW. It used to be the mantra of many of studio producer to never ever update your OS or music software mid-album (that's a related collection of songs for the younger music makers amongst us ;).

And so, it looks like Propellerhead Software's popular DAW, Reason, doesn't play as nice as it should with the latest macOS update from Apple. The company from Sweden has sent an email out to all their registered users giving a general warning not to update until they've provided a fix for Reason:

"It has come to our attention that the latest macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 has a negative impact on Reason's performance. Currently we do NOT recommend you to update your macOS High Sierra to 10.13.4 if you are using Reason.

"We're on it and hope to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible."

The good news is that Mac OS High Sierra is only supported in Reason 9.5.2 and later, including Reason 10, Reason Intro & Reason Lite. So those running earlier versions of macOS and Reason have a valid excuse to be smug while continuing to make music.

Stay tuned to Propellerhead and AskAudio for news on the free update to Reason that is pending.
