Propellerhead Announce Reason 9.1 Now With Ableton Link!

Reason users. You can now be get even more intimate with your Ableton Live-wielding friends thanks to Reason 9.1's marquee new feature: Ableton Link. Watch the video and read more below.

Wait... what? Two big DAWs working together to make music making a better experience for everyone? Is that even possible? Yup...

Ableton Link has been a revelation for tempo-based music software since its release. Using the Ableton Link technology countless Mac, PC and iOS app music makers have been able to sync their jams to each other wirelessly. In some ways this has been a quiet revolution for producers and performers allowing electronic-based musicians to play together much in the same way guitar-based bands have been doing for decades.

So, we (and I'm sure many Reason and Ableton users) are likely thrilled to learn that Ableton and Propellerhead have collaborated to bring Ableton Link to Reason 9.1.

Here's what Mattias Häggström Gerdt, Reason Product Manager says about Reason 9.1 with Link support:

"Like many of us here in the office I'm in a handful of bands, so when Ableton approached us with integrating Link in Reason I was both professionally and personally intrigued. Making music together is something entirely different from creating by yourself. It's not better or worse, but it's different and incredibly rewarding. Sharing your ideas and inspiring each other will lead you to musical results that never would've happened otherwise. With Link in Reason, it's easier than ever to make music together—regardless of your software of choice.

"To update to Reason 9.1, simply launch Reason 9 and download your free update. And if you're on an earlier version or don't own Reason yet, there's never been a better time to get started. It's been really fun working on Reason 9.1 and I'm sure you'll have even more fun making music with it."
