Thanks so much for the tips, very helpful! One question---what specific macbook + os + interface combo do you use? Is dual hdd helpful? I've had a top-of-the-line 2011 macbook pro with ssd + RME babyface and it worked great, except seemingly once or twice per show there would be a stutter / second-long freeze which is bad news. Have you been able to avoid this completely for professional touring? That's the only thing keeping me from ditching hardware synths entirely!

Just an update for folks---figured out the dropping out issues were when using synths hosted by Kontakt. Instead of hosting them via Mainstage, I now run a separate Kontakt instance outside mainstage with separate midi channels for each of those instruments. I then use mainstage to route to those as external instruments by redirecting the midi channel. Works great, scarbee clavient and neo soul keys 4x run beautifully now!

I will need a direct box to take the audio from the más to the p.a ?
