Native Instruments Launches Sounds.com

With over 500,000 royalty-free audio samples and loops at launch, Native Instruments' Sounds.com is an enticing prospect for creative producers and DJs.  

Los Angeles, January 17: Native Instruments, the leading manufacturer of software and hardware for digital music production and DJing, today unveils Sounds.com, a new online platform for loops, samples, and sound packs for music creators of all genres.

The Sounds.com beta launches today exclusively in the US. Customers can try it now with a free selection of loops and samples, or go Pro and subscribe to the full library at a special introductory price of $9.99 per month.

The rapidly-growing platform already hosts more than 500,000 royalty-free sounds – from orchestral scoring to pop, rock, and trap – and new releases are added daily. Current sounds include loops and sample content from Native Instruments’ acclaimed Maschine Expansions – plus exclusive content from over 200 creators, including leading suppliers such as The Loop Loft, MVP Loops, and Symphonic Distribution. Sounds.com is spearheaded from Los Angeles by Native Instruments’ Chief Digital Officer Matthew Adell, previously known for leadership roles at Beatport, Napster, and Amazon. I tried the free offering, found the free content virtually useless, at least as I produce. So, since NI makes some great stuff, I tried the paid. Spent the 9.99 and went to get to making music. How very disappointing the rest of the story is. Short of it - after maybe a terabyte of samples - and I don't know about you, but that's not much for me - it was like 3 libraries of hundreds supposedly offered - and yes they are shown, just don't use them in a way they don't like. Don't know about youse guys but i do my music making and my internet browsing separately. So, after 4 library downloads (which were pretty amateurish btw) i go looking for something I care to use and try another download which is like 50 samples out of a 500 sample library - I get a popup notice that my account is suspended indefinitely for - get this - downloading content - which is EXACTLY what I pay for. Screw them, I canceled after one day. Back to something like East West, much more professional all the way around. Suddenly Native Instruments comes into focus as kind of a toy company to me. Good luck, maybe it's someone's cup of tea.

Only thing I can figure is that they seem to want to the producer to be browsing online through the libraries (and hence be exposed to their advertising and gain click creds) as opposed to having a modest selection of libraries available locally. Again, just provide what you charge for, simple, you know commerce.

I second stephen alice had sounds for about a couple weeks was extremely excited although NI have been a complete let down customer service wise I gave this site a shot because I do own expansions by them long story short today I found a expansion pack I really enjoyed so I used the site exactly like it states(in small print) 1 gb a month of as many samples loops oneshots you want blah blah and I get the same lock out saying my subscription is currently unavailable because they deemed my allotment too extensive for one sample pack wow......I send customer service email and no response they said to send a email to verify Im not some thief in the nite and hours on end later no response still locked out and now at a creative bang and feeling robbed of a product extreme false advertising as usual bad form NI. NI take pointers from splice and add different price options for your allotment a month instead of being dishonest and locking someone out of a account they paid for false advertisement at its fullest. yes I understand people doing a excellent job on making sounds around the clock and the hours or mixing and processing etc but if I get a gb for 10.00 wich is a heck of a good deal then I should be able to use it how I choose.
