Multiband Mastering Tips With 4Dyne & Mixing And Mastering Rig 3

This powerful multiband mastering Rack Extension gives you complete control over the shape of your tracks in Reason. Mo Volans explains how it works.

Reason's Rack Extension system opened up the Reason environment to third party developers to bring their own custom instruments and effects on board. And the Props wasted no time creating custom bundles to provide users with collections of tools targetted at specific tasks or genres of music. Their Mixing And Mastering Rig has revently been updated to version 3 and one of its powerful effects is the 4Dyne Multiband Mastering module. In this video from the course Reason Rack Extensions 103: Mixing and Mastering Rig V3 - Explored, Mo Volans shows you around.

This powerful multiband limiter has a wealth of controls and understanding how they fit together is key to getting great sounding and loud masters when producing your tracks. Mo explains how the audio is routed - split between three splitters with variable crossover points - and then routed to four different limiter sections. This lets you get complete control over exactly how your master is processed. For more on mastering and mixing, be sure to check out the other videos in this comprehensive course on Reason's Mixing And Mastering Rig.
