Mini Modular Synth Q&A: Milk Audio Store

Milk Audio Store in Rome specialises in providing modular synthesizers to local and international clientele. We chatted with them to find out what makes them tick.

Tiptop Audio and Lattex Plus join together to host MEFF, a two-day modular synthesizer exhibition in the artistically vibrant city of Florence, Italy. MEFF celebrates the manufacturers of Modular Synthesizers and electronic music technology entrepreneurs. It takes place from March 24-25 2018.

To help celebrate MEFF 2018 we partnered up with TipTop (the modular synth company behind the event) and ran some super short, punchy interviews with some of the top modular synth companies.

Here's what Milk Audio Store told us:

1. Why did you decide to create a modular synthesizer brand and when did it first happen?

We have been in the professional audio market for 10 years, offering consulting services, sales and targeted assistance for recording studios technicians and producers. In 2013, we decided to include modular synthesizers in our catalog primarily for the passion we have for music and technology. Today we are really proud to have become a real reference point in Italy for the synthesis and for the Eurorack format.

Thanks to our Store in Rome, we are able to serve many musicians from central Italy, but also users all over the world who appreciate the time we dedicate to guiding them to the choice that best suits their needs. In Rome, our store offers a demo area with Eurorack Modular Synthesizers and keyboard synths.

2. Name a song you would like to hear re-created using your modular system?

I am proud to have the opportunity to use live modules that we have also for sale in the store. I ‘ve played the Stranger Things soundtrack with modular 3 times this year. The sound of the Verbos Complex Oscillator is perfect for recreating the "Stranger Things" theme.

3. Which module you’ve made took you the most effort or time to make and why?

At the moment there are many interesting eurorack modules to discover on the market. At Milk Audio Store we want to be always updated on new market proposals so we can offer the best synths to our users.

One of the most interesting products among those available in our catalog is Eloquencer from Winter Modular. It’s a complex sequencer with 8 CV and GATE. It’s powerful, versatile and it needs thorough study to present it to our customers in the best way.

4. Tell us about a module made by another brand you are most excited about?

This is a difficult question, because all manufacturers are making exciting modules and they are all stimulating our imagination more and more!

Some of the most exciting are Xaoc Devices Batumi and the Make Noise Maths, no one else can raplace them.

5. Show us a short  video demoing your modular system
