Mini Modular Synth Q&A: Euterpe Synthesizer Laboratories

We chatted to Euterpe Synthesizer Laboratories to find out their thoughts on the state of play with the modular world, as well as their plans for future hardware.

Tiptop Audio and Lattex Plus join together to host MEFF, a two-day modular synthesizer exhibition in the artistically vibrant city of Florence, Italy. MEFF celebrates the manufacturers of Modular Synthesizers and electronic music technology entrepreneurs. It takes place from March 24-25 2018.

To help celebrate MEFF 2018 we partnered up with TipTop (the modular synth company behind the event) and ran some super short, punchy interviews with some of the top modular synth companies.

Here's what Euterpe Synthesizer Laboratories told us:

1. Why did you decide to create a modular synthesizer brand and when did it first happen?

Because I needed something new, something professionally formative and artistically creative, something to truly love. With the flash of a dream one day it came into my mind - that kind of signal routing - and everything came accordingly

2. Name a song you would like to hear re-created using your modular system?

"Something by Bach" is a valid answer? I bet nobody has done it yet.

3. Which module you’ve made took you the most effort or time to make and why?

The only one we’ve made so far, the Vertice Analog Filterbank. Why? Because we slowly had to learn to live together…

4. Tell us about a module made by another brand you are most excited about?

Sincerely… it’s not a module: the only thing I would buy right now is a good, just serviced Oberheim Four Voice. Call me nostalgic but that synth makes me crazy...

5. Would you be able to send us a cool one minute video demonstrating your modular system?
