Kevin Saunderson Finds Sounds and Inspiring Rhythms at Ford Assembly Part

Kevin Saunderson, the man behind techno, should need no introduction. Ford Cars also... So what happens if you put Kevin Saunderson in a Ford assembly plant with a portable recorder? Watch this video.  

This rather intriguing video features innovator and Detroit techno legend, Kevin Sauderson, talking about the process of collecting found sounds. In this instance he is in the field, armed with a Zoom H4n portable recorder and external mic, at a car manufacturing plant for Ford Motors. 

Cutting back to studio shots, Kevin Saunderson explains the unpredictability of knowing whether captured sounds will make it into a finished track. But during his time at the plant it's quite clear he is inspired by the rhythmic and tonal sonics he experiences.

I assume he was gathering samples... I would've been left with a better impression of Ford if they'd given him 30 seconds to actually showcase some music made with the samples!

Yes, I was hoping the same too. Would've been great to see the samples in a finished track :)
