You've spent time creating and arranging your track in FL Studio, and now it's mixed as well. But before you can move on to the final mastering stage, you will need to make sure of a few things. In this short video from the course FL Studio 105: Mastering Essentials, Rishabh Rajan walks you through the process of preparing your mix for mastering using FL Studio's comprehensive toolset.
FL Studio 105: Mastering Essentials
One of the first and most important things to check is loudness - that your mix never goes above 0dB. Rishabh shows you how to set up the Fruity Limiter plug-in to ensure this does not happen. Then he adds an instance of WaveCandy to get a more fine detailed view of the levels in the signal. You'll see why it is important to leave a little headroom during mixdown to allow the mastering engineer - even if that is still you - some room to play with. Check out the rest of the videos in this course for a comprehensive guide to the fundamentals of mastering in FL Studio.
