How To Use Apple Logic Pro So you've just opened that shiny new Logic Pro or Logic Express box and spent the last 4 hours or so installing it on your Mac... what next? If you're completely new to

Logic Pro ... ...

Launch Logic. If a project opens choose: File > Close Project. Now choose File > New...
A 'New from template' window opens. Here you can choose to start from a blank/empty file or use a variety of pre-made project templates. You can browse the different templates by clicking on a Collection folder.

The Golden rule of computing.. Save! It's always a good idea to save your projects:
File > Save as...

Rounik
Hi Chuck,

I believe your Motif will be USB powered right? Not firewire?

In theory yes... what Mac do you have, how much ram, etc? How many inputs will you be recording? What do you mean by seamless recording?

Thanks

Very nice post. Only exception I would take is with your opening sentence. I installed Logic Express 9 while sitting at a lunch counter eating a hamburger with my 7 year-old son who also happens to be my live rehearsal session recording assistant. His is amazing when it comes to keeping things from popping into the red. Oh, yeah, total install took about 9 minutes. We hardly had time to finish our fries before we wiped the grease from our fingers and began poking around. As a former PC guy who has spent the last year NOT rebooting my machine, I can only say that this is what I have come to expect from the Apple experience as a whole. You guys simply rock. Nuf sed.

Cheers

Thanks Max!!

Logic Pro comes with about 47GB of content... so performing a complete install of Pro from the numerous DVDs is no mean feat ;-)

Glad to hear you and your studio engineer managed to squeeze in some fries though! I squeezed in a whole lot more than one meal when installing Logic Pro.

Anyway, glad this tutorial was helpful. Keep checking back daily - there's so much more exciting stuff coming!!

Dear Rounik, I have Imac and logic pro 9 just 1 week. Nice program, but I have to learn a lot. At first, I have a roland G 800, so far to make a midi recording is no problem, but I can hear the original sound of roland when I make a midi recording. The result, I can only hear the piano sound all of the track. I tried to make a multitimbral recording, unfortunately I can't hear any sound ( I see the signal and the score of my recording). Years I used cakewalk pro and cool edit pro. Please help me, please! i have to make music recording before christmas. First midi to learn for the member of the choir, after that I have to make mp 3 file. Thank you much, Robby.
Rounik
Hi Robby,

I think I understand... please correct me if I'm mistaken. Are you trying to record the onboard sound from the G800 as audio in Logic? If so I'd recommend reading this 2-part article:

and
http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/logic-pro/setting-up-external-instruments-in-logic-part-2

Hope this helps

Hi Rounik, thank you o much for your help. At this moment, I am still busy to follow the steps. So far so good, but when I make a midi file, the result what I hear, only piano sound. In logic file, when I am busy to make recording, I hear the sound what i choose. But not the product when I safe in midi file, to hear back (from my imac). Do I something wrong? Anyway, thanks again for your help. Robby
