Bitwig Studio 2 - Take Control Of The Phase-4 Synth

In this short video, Thavius Beck deconstructs the concept of phase synthesis to give you a clear understanding of how to master this powerful synth for better sound design.

Phase synthesis may not be something you're currently familiar with, but if you have Bitwig Studio 2 you actually have a powerful phase synth at your disposal in the form of Phase-4! In this short video from the course Bitwig Studio 2 202: Phase-4 Deconstructed, Bitwig expert Thavius Beck explains exactly how the synth generates its sounds, getting to the heart of what phase synthesis actually is.

By showing how the synth's four oscillators work, Thavius explains how the different waves available and their frequencies directly correspond to pitch and tuning. Phase is the term used to describe a given point in a wave's cycle - a point in the waveform that can be altered to change the starting position of the waveform and thus the sound that is generated. Manipulating this is the key to controlling how sound is made in the synth. Check out the rest of the videos in the course for a complete guide to this powerful synth!
