Behringer Reveals Full Details On Roland System 100m Eurorack Module Clones

Last week we reported on Uli Behringer stating his company intend to enter into the world of eurorack. Not only that, but after the success of the Model D (still hard to get hold of) and the upcoming Neutron demo-modular analog synth that we love, Behringer plans to release a range of eurorack modules in the $49 - $99 price range.
Yes, eurorack is about to become affordable for everyone.
This move raises a lot of questions though. What kinds of eurorack modules are Behringer planning? Will their arrival spell the end of the line for some of the more creative, single-person eurorack companies that can't compete against their low prices? Etc etc.
Now, while we think this is ultimately good for the industry in that Behringer could end up being a gateway into eurorack synths for many, like their $299 Model D and Neutron already are, we also can't deny that this will likely disrupt and change the eurorack landscape forever.
Uli Behringer revealed more of his eurorack plans yesterday. Namely, he's planning on clonging 13 modules from the cassic Roland System 100m!
"I like to share with you the initial drafts of our M100 Eurorack Series."
"These are 13 MID's or concept documents we create for every single product as part of our PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) process before we hand them over to our R&D departments for development. We haven't decided yet which of these modules we will actually produce as it is important that we achieve a certain production volume."
One of the most interesting aspects of Behringer stepping into eurorack is they are actively seeking to work with creative module makers. In the long run this could lead to some interesting module concepts coming to market at affordable prices that previously wouldn't have been possible. But if the eurorack community becomes used to lower prices it might make it harder for "creative module makers" to design, manufacture and market their module ideas on their own. There are lots of possible scenarios depending on whether your rack is half full or half empty... ;)
In a later post, Uli went on to explain why Behringer are keen to remake the System 100m in eurorack format:
"Over the past years we have repeatedly been asked to revive the 100m system and offer it at an affordable price.
"Since we do listen to customers, it was clear that the 100m would be our first step into the Eurorack market. In this aspect you are absolutely correct that we had those modules in mind before we announced our Eurorack journey.
"However, as mentioned earlier, we haven't decided yet which modules we will be making as this will become clearer at a later stage once we have more customer feedback.
"I like to clarify that this is just the beginning and our Vision is to build both legacy modules but also come up with innovative solutions which we have demonstrated with the DeepMind or the Neutron.
"We are equally excited to cooperate with creative module makers and many have already contacted us. We believe that such co-operations are mutually beneficial and I am convinced that our efficient supply chain can help these makers to get their products into the hands of lots of people. We are looking forward to meeting as many designers as possible at SuperBooth."
