This article really should have included AudioEvolution Mobile, a very powerful multitrack digital DAW with support for USB Audio Interfaces and virtual instruments (in .sf2 format). Chordbot is a great 'band-in-a-box' application which is fantastic for sketching out song ideas or even generating random ones. Synprez FM is one of the best DX7 emulators for any platform and will take .sysex files. It also records. IK Multimedia make some great virtual piano instruments- iLectric Piano is one of them. Also there is a version of Thumbjam and Guitarism for Android but they are lacking some IOS functionality. Samsung also make their own mobile DAW called Soundcamp for their Galaxy range of devices. These use their own proprietary audio engine which gives very little latency. It's a little hard to get around but has a ton of features and will handle some apps as channel inserts (including iLectric Piano, Thumbjam and MorphWiz). All of these benefit from the USB OTG cable and a MIDI keyboard. I use the Korg Nanokey 2 when travelling or the CME X-Key 37 which has aftertouch.
