Don't forget about the AudioBase Sample Player ... :)

Scott Freiman
You left off the best -- MorphWiz. An amazing, addicting, and useful synth from Jordan Rudess! Also, Korg's iMS20 is a nice simulation of the MS-20.
Yes! AudioBase Sample Player is awesome too.. :)
Even cooler is the fact you can create a similar style music app for iPhone and iPad using appOmator.
Hi Scott! I haven't had a chance to try out MorphWiz - but have seen it in action in a Jordan Rudess video:

It's definitely on my mind to try this out very soon over Christmas break.

I mentioned iMS20 with the KorgiElectribe, but again haven't yet given it a proper spin. Thanks for suggesting this. I'll update the article to include in under 05 - Best of the Rest.

Hi Rounik!
Thanks so much for this very useful post! I've been on a bit of an app hunt myself lately, and yes, it is very time consuming. It's really helpful to have a place to go to help weed out some, and highlight others.

Here's a site that may help with that -

Here's a useful link that shows some apps in action live - gizmodo.com/5709283/rockin-around-the-christmas-tree-with-ipads
In addition to the vid, each app used in each song is listed on the page.

To add a few to the ones already mentioned;

iGog - great sampled drum sounds with true touch sensitivity!
Bebot - a little like morphwiz but without the great graphics. You do get a singing robot, though, and very little latency.

Scott and/or Rounik - Morphwiz is a great app. I do experience a noticeable amount of latency with it, though. Have you, or is there something I'm missing? A lot of the sounds are atmospheric, so it's not much of an issue, but I'd like to be able to make full use of all the app has to offer, and the latency gets in the way.

Continuing the list;

Thumbjam - another fun Jordan Rudess app.
Pianist Pro
Seline HD
NLog PRO - w/ wireless and Line6 enabled MIDI

As you know, there are so many more good ones out there. I feel like this is just the beginning of a real game changer for music making.

How about a new forum dedicated to music making apps?

And maybe a TNT on apps, and how to use some of them when MIDI'd to Logic (like Touch OSC) - setting up a wireless network, etc.

I want to make music
