Phase-4 is a powerful synth that ships with Bitwig Studio 2. But what exactly is a phase synth, and how does it work? Each of Phase-4's four oscillators allows you to extensively modify and shape the waveform being used to generate sound. Thavius demonstrates how altering the parameters on each one and changing wave shape by distorting its cycle can radically affect the sound, introducing harmonics and other interesting elements. And it's not just about changing entire waveshapes - by distorting a wave at different points in its cycle, you can get very different results.
